Picture Frame

Today i made my picture frame for my wall. The first thing did did was find the center spot of he hop half of my wall, i did this by measureing the length and halfing it and the same for the width. i then marked out a rectangle with an internal measurment of 300mm x 450mm. Once this was done i got my picture rail wood

Filling the wall

Today i filled my wall. i used filler mix and water to create my filler, i kept mixing until the filler was at the right consistency. I filled every crack, dent and blemish until my wall had no cracks or dents in it. I then waited for it to dry and sanded it all down until there was no filler on the wall. For the task i used filler mix, water and a filling knife. The PPE i used were steel toe cap boots to protect my feet from falling object, goggles to protect my eyes from dust and gloves to protect my hands from cuts.

Plastering

Today i plastered my stud wall.  Firstly i mixed my plaster and put plastic sheeting around my area so there was no mess on the floor. The PPE i wore for this task was steel toe cap boots, goggles and gloves i wore these tov prevent, eye contact with plaster, irritation on my hands, and steel toe cap boots to prevent any hard objects hitting my feet. I applied my first coat then waited for it to dry, then aplliede my second coat. once that was quite dry i polished it with water so any lumps and bumps would go.

Swimming pool

Today my task was to to mark our a swimming pool measuring 2.5m x 3m. I made 8 profiles to help with my marking out. the first thing i done was to mark out a 2.5m line across the floor and put 2 profiles either end of the line so i knew where my line was, then placed to profiles diagonal to the first 2. I then marked out a 3m line and done the same profiles on that line (either side then diagonal) i done this again with a 2.5m line and a 3m line to create a rectangle shape. We now had tie string to the profiles, we tied the string to the same order we did the profiles(plus the diagonals) Now this was done i measured 30cm arcoss the string and 40cm across the diagonal piece of string, we then tied a piece of green string to tie the 30 and 40cm point together. If there measuremeant were right then the triangle would measure up as 30cm, 40 cm and 50cm, the 3,4,5 rule. one this was done to all 4 profiles we had finished the task.

English bond

Our task was to was to builld a english bond, this was the hardest bond to make because there are 2 courses to the bond. The first bond are side by side with a 10mm gap between each brick and the next course are brick to brick. we built the wall 8 bricks high and 6 bricks long. the PPE i used for this task was gloves, goggles and steel toe cap boots. after i layed each course i checked it was level, strait and the right height and length. Once this was done i cleaned up my area and told the tutor.

12x9 brick infill

The task was to work in pairs to complete a 12x9 brick infill. First first thing we done was get into oue PPE which were steel toe cap boots, goggles and gloves, next we measured the length on 12 bricks across the floor and market it. once this one was me and my partner started laying bricks either end and met in the middle. we kept doing throughout building the brick wall, we had to make sure the wall was the right height, length and if was strait for this we used measuring tap for the height and length and a spirit level to make sure it was strait and plumb. once we finished we tidied up our work and told the tutor we had finished.
