Common defects to
patio slabs.
You
need to get the slant right when doing patio slabs. If the slant is too steep
it will not be easy/ safe to walk on. But if the slant isn’t steep enough,
water will sit on the slabs.
Also if you put too much cement
under the slabs it hard to get them in the right position, because they float
around.
Common
materials used.
Cement
Patio slabs
Possible
defects in materials.
Patio slabs can crack, then
moisture gets into the cracks and rots away the patio slab inside out.
Tools,
power tools and materials used to carry out the task.
Brick trowel
Level
Wheelbarrow
Bin
Dustpan and brush
4 bits of wood
Cement
Method statement:
First we placed for 4 blobs of pug on the floor for each
slab so that when you place the tile down it will spread it out and not
compact, we then placed two slabs down and levelled them out with a slight
slant left to right to stop the water / rain piling up and forming puddles, the
slant will take the water to one side. We then followed this technique
levelling them out along but making a slant left to right to stop the rain
making puddles.
