Door Lock

Door lock

Common defects to replacing a door lock.
bending the lock as you put it into the whole.
If you chisel the whole too deep the locks on the door won’t reach the door frame.
Common materials used.
4x2 length of wood.
Metal door lock.
Possible defects in materials.
If you force the door the wood isn’t always strong enough to stop the lock pushing through the wood.
Tools, power tools and materials used.
Chisel
Hammer
Tennon saw
Tape measure
Pencil
Metal lock
4x2 wood

Method statement.
I will start by repairing the door frame where the lock pushed through the wood. I will do this by cutting a piece of wood to fit into the door frame where it has been broken, this will mean the door frame is now whole again. Then I will remove the old damaged lock from the door and insal a new one. Then I will measure up where the new locks on the door will need to go onto your repaired door frame. Then I shall chisel out where the metal fixing for the door lock will go then screw it into place I will then drill in two holes for the locks to slide into. Once this is done I will tidy up and the job is complete.
